If the weather prevents the kids from going outside to play, I’d much rather see them spend time engaging with a ChatGPT prompt than sitting listlessly in front of the TV. Is that a crazy idea? Not really because it’s built on a sound argument: encourage activities that help kids build literacy skills.
Look, I’m not a TV hater. It serves a purpose I suppose (e.g. feel good about doing nothing), but it’s fair to say that its pros are greatly outnumbered by the cons when it comes to kids and cognitive development. Time spent experimenting with AIPRM prompts and ChatGPT can be different.
It’s mostly text-based, which by itself promotes reading fluency and an interest in reading. Because the level of engagement is mostly defined by meaningful input, kids learn about language as well. For me, that’s a bonus.
Another positive dimension is creative thinking. There are heaps of AIRM prompts that create a vast digital playground where kids can ignite their imaginations. Even better, it’s a place that fosters an experimental mindset through trial and error.
Don’t believe me? Try these AIPRM prompts during your next indoor family day and see what happens.
Idea 1 - Enter a few keywords and create a story. Kids personalize the story by adding their names and locations.
ChatGPT generates a short story that’s ready for editing or a live performance around the evening dinner table.
Idea 2 - Write a song and choose the musical style.
ChatGPT generates lyrics for a song. Sounds like a great family night.
Idea 3 - Kids got to eat, right? So why not add healthy cooking to family day?
Here’s my suggested prompt. Modify as required.
10 simple and healthy ideas that kids can cook in 10 minutes with no added sugar.
The output looks pretty tasty.
That’s it. Now you know how to use AIPRM to plan family day events.
